In my 50 plus years, growing up in Haiti and later being raised in the Haitian diaspora, I have observed something that does not often get discussed. Haitian couples fight. We
argue. We raise our voices. We disagree openly. But despite all of that, many of our relationships last.

There is a depth to Haitian love that outsiders sometimes misunderstand. It is not always soft and polished. It is passionate. It is expressive. It can be loud. But underneath that intensity is tolerance. There is endurance. There is a willingness to stay, to work through storms instead of walking away at the first sign of discomfort.
